Imperishable Seed

We’re moving onward in our series called ‘Stand Firm” where we’ve been doing a deep dive into the Books of 1 & 2 Peter. We just wrapped up the beautiful Doxology found in 1 Peter 1:3-12 and are moving into a section where Peter exhorts his audience to live into their new identity as children of the Heavenly Father. We narrowed in on vv. 22-25 which read:

22 Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, 23 since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; 24 for

“All flesh is like grass

and all its glory like the flower of grass.

The grass withers,

and the flower falls,

25 but the word of the Lord remains forever.”

And this word is the good news that was preached to you.

The BIG IDEA we wanted to walk away with was that fervent love within the Christian community proves the genuineness of our faith. It does so because it proves that we’ve been born again of the imperishable seed of our Heavenly Father.

Give the sermon a listen and we hope to see you this week at a Family Meal and/or a DNA group to dive even deeper.
