Tether

The only means of combatting the onslaught of competing affections and allegiances we owe exclusively to Jesus is to continue to press forward in our journey of discipleship—the process of increasingly submitting every area of our lives to the empowering presence and lordship of Jesus Christ and teaching others to do the same. One of the foundational ways in which we do that is through spiritual practices. The point of the spiritual practices are to be with Jesus, to become like Jesus, to do what Jesus would do if he were you. With that in mind, we have partnered with Tethered to offer an immersive library of resources, practices, habits, etc. for our church family to explore.

helpful links

As we’ve said already, being apprentices to King Jesus—being with him, becoming like him, and doing what he didrequires an all of life pursuit. There is no one-stop cure-all daily practice that will get us there. Nor is the answer—despite this cultural moment’s insistence—strictly more content to consume. But good, gospel-centered content is a vital part (and just that, only a part) of any Christian’s spiritual life. Family members and leaders from across City Parish have compiled a list of links to resources we’ve found immensely helpful in our journey to know Christ better and increase our affections/allegiance towards him. If you have one that you don’t see on the list—let us know!

Articles

Besides the weekly diet of sermon content, many of our elders/deacons/family members will write articles (or link to others they’ve found helpful) from time to time that address specific topics spanning the theological, cultural, political, etc. divide. These are another great resource to dive into as you journey with Jesus. If you’re a part of our community and have a topic the Spirit has been encouraging you to write towards, please reach out and we’d love to consider posting it!
