Summer ‘24 Events

Happy Summer, City Parish! We’ve got some exciting things coming up that we wanted to remind everyone of…

We’re so excited to be going on our first EVER [and hopefully annual] all-church camping trip. We’ve got a group campsite in Clearlake State Park reserved and have room for 40, so get those registrations in ASAP if you haven’t already. The campsite opens up for us Wednesday, June 26 and we’ll pack up for home the morning of Saturday, June 29. We can’t wait to camp it up with you all!!!

City Parish has always desired to be a church family that takes spiritual, social, and cultural responsibility for our cities. With that in mind, we’ve often put rhythms in place that allow us to serve collectively as a whole church. For the last year we’ve taken that opportunity every 5th Sunday of every month where one occurs. The next 5th Sunday Serve Day is Sunday, June 20. We’re excited to come together to serve McDowell Elementary School. We’ll meet at our regular time (10:15 AM.

4th of July parties at the Shorts’ home have become something of a tradition (this is year 3!). And each year they’ve never disappointed. More info will come via Church Center, but if you’re not part of an MC, holler at us and we’ll get you the details. We’re asking everyone to bring a side dish and the church budget will cover drinks/desserts. Festivities start at 2 PM!

City Teens keeps on rolling with our monthly events. July brings one of our bi-monthly rhythms of gathering our teens and pre-teens for a ‘family meal’-like get-together. The goal is to give a more relaxed space for us to hang out, connect, and dive into some deeper conversation about Jesus, faith, the gospel,… anything. Parents are invited as well. We’ll meet at the Friesens’ home on Sunday, July 21 at 1:30 with lunch provided. You can RSVP to Josh Jones.

Our elders and deacons have a high value of keeping the family up to speed on all things City Parish. One of the ways that we do that is by having regular (usually at least quarterly) Family Meetings. This August we’ll take a Thursday evening and combine all 3 MC Family Meals to feast together, pray together, and share in all that the Lord is doing in/through City Parish. More details will come via Church Center, but pencil in 6 PM on August 1 on your calendars.
