STORIES: Amber

Amber and her family have been a part of The Parish Church for a little over a year and we’re so, so grateful to God for sending them. It takes all of five seconds around her to tell that she's never met a stranger. Her spunk and passion for people are irresistible and infectious and, as her church family, we’re thankful for that. Her and family love their neighbors well and are super involved in their kids’ school.

We asked Amber to write us a paragraph or two about how the Lord has been moving in their lives since they became a part of The Parish Church. Her story is remarkable and makes us stop and realize that we’re so grateful to God for folks like her and her family!

My family and I moved to Petaluma recently and have been connected with The Parish Church for a little over a year now. Daniel and Jessica have welcomed our family with such kindness and authenticity. My husband is not a believer and in the past often has refused to go to church, but he has felt so welcomed at The Parish that he now attends with the children and I. All of The Parish have embraced my husband so lovingly and it has truly made a difference in how he views Christianity. I know God is doing a work in my husband’s life and joining The Parish is a significant component to that.

I am drawn to the Missional Community model that The Parish has. In our Missional Communities we gather with each other mid week to share a meal, fellowship, bear one another’s burdens, and collaborate to be missional in the community in which we live. The simplicity and the distinctly biblical approach to living life is what really grabbed my heart when I first came to The Parish.

It’s easy to be stuck in the mainstream Christian cycle of self-focused spiritual growth. The Parish has reminded me of our mission as children of God, we are sent out into the world to serve and make disciples. It really is that simple. With the help of God, I am increasing submitting every area of my life to Jesus, for His glory. The Parish has been instrumental in my re-focus of what we are called to be as followers of Jesus and I’m so thankful to have landed here.
