The Mystery Revealed

We’re launching into a new sermon series through the book of Ephesians that we’re calling ‘New Creation.’ Ephesians unfolds a bold drama of the revelation/ apocalypse of the reconciliation of all things and the unification of Heaven and Earth through the work/person of Jesus. It’s a remarkable book and one that has long been heralded for its rich, deep theology.

For Week 9 of our series, we unpacked Ephesians 3:1-13. Often glossed over because of it’s cumbersome language and tangental nature of Paul’s main point (his prayer for Christ’s people in the area of Ephesus), we said that there is gold to be mined in these verses. All of it crescendos in v. 10 and the ESV Gospel Transformation Bible wraps it up beautifully: “The magnitude of the effect of Christ’s people coming together in the church across cultural and personal barriers gets unique expression here. The manifold wisdom of God evident in Christ’s united body, the church, becomes a witness to the spiritual hosts (some commentators identify these as the spiritual enemies of the gospel; see 6:12) of the greatness of the gospel’s transformation of the human heart.

Give Ephesians 3:1-13 a read and a listen and we hope to see you this week at a Family Meal and/or a DNA group to dive even deeper.
