A Colony of Heaven: Part 2

We’ve arrived at the end of our Series, ‘Anchor of the Soul,’ where we’ve been exploring the book of Hebrews. If you've been following along, you’ve heard us say that Hebrews is unique in its composition in that it’s written as a sermon more than a letter. As such, it keeps building upon itself — The ideas that the ‘preacher’ keeps presenting are tied together. So if you haven’t had a chance to catch up, it might be a good idea to do so.

For Week 17, we explored Hebrews 13:7-19 and traversed through what almost feels like an abrupt departure from the Preacher’s normal style. But we know that as he’s drawing the sermon to an end he’s calling these friends of his to live into the moral ethic of this newly inaugurated Kingdom made possible by Jesus — the supreme/final Word, the Great High Priest, the one who constantly intercedes on their behalf, etc. The BIG IDEA this week was: “Disciples of Jesus are joyously and consistently growing into his Kingdom ethic which serves as their worship to God and witness to His creation.” Give it a listen and we pray that encourages you to increasingly submit your whole life to the empowering presence and lordship of Jesus Christ!

Daniel mentioned and read from a post by Jared Wilson that can be further explored here.
