Adoption Awareness Month 2021

November is Adoption Awareness Month and this Sunday (11/7) is Stand Sunday. Stand Sunday is inspired by the story of Bishop Aaron Blake who, after raising six biological children, decided to welcome SIX teenage boys in foster care into his home! The story is extraordinary! Soon after, he invited the congregation he pastors to step into the stories of kids in foster care, with the vision of providing “more than enough” families for EVERY child entering care. He urged his congregation to STAND with him, and many did. In 2010, his community reached their goal.

Our church is so grateful to partner with Foster The City and join other Bay Area churches in working towards that same goal of “more than enough” families for kids entering foster care right here in our communities.

There isn't just one way to engage with the foster care system – there are many! Would you be praying about how God might be inviting you to take a next step? Even if it's curiosity about a step you might take in the future but not right now, we encourage you to pay attention to it! Ways to engage:

  • Become a Foster Family – provide a home where vulnerable kids can receive love and care

  • Become a Support Friend – walk alongside a foster family through sharing meals, babysitting, prayer, etc.

  • Pray for foster kids, foster families, bio families, social workers, and others involved in the foster care system

  • Partner financially with Foster the City
