The Danger of Unbelief

We’re moving onward in our new series, ‘Anchor of the Soul,’ this week where we’re diving head first into the Book of Hebrews. We covered A LOT of ground for Weeks 1 and 2 looking at Hebrews 1:1-2:18. For Week 3, we stumbled into one of the more challenging passages in Hebrews where the preacher exhorts his friends to steer away from unbelief. The BIG IDEA that Kelly taught on was, “Be warned that an unbelieving heart can lead us away from the living God.“ It feels important to remind us all that this passage is not dealing with doubt or struggles in our faith. It’s dealing explicitly with unbelief. Remember, doubt is not the opposite of faith — unbelief is. Give it a listen and seek the Spirit to lead you and guide you in what His Scriptures have to say.

Like thousands of churches worldwide, this global pandemic has forced us to be creative in our response — both in terms of how we gather and how we serve our community. Though we believe the normative pattern established in Scripture for community anticipates embodied presence of the Gathered Church, there are certain times where that’s not as safe. We find ourselves in such a time and are thankful to be able to leverage the digital landscape to remain faithful to plugging into community. This week’s Gathering came by way of smaller House Gatherings (following local, state, and federal guidelines) via Zoom. We’d love for you to join us next week!Jesus is supreme over all things and worthy of our whole lives living in submission to both his grace and his glory.
