The Context

Church planting is both a joy and a grind. To be faithful here—in the epicenter of post-Christian culture and the nation’s highest cost-of-living—requires deep roots in the gospel and a long obedience in making disciples who make disciples. That’s been our story these past seven years at City Parish. It hasn’t been easy, but the grace of Jesus has been unmistakable.

One of the clearest signs of that grace has been the support we’ve received from Transforming the Bay with Christ. For the last six years, their matching grants have helped us stay financially stable while we’ve grown in maturity, membership, and generosity. By God’s mercy, we are now closer than ever to becoming financially self-sustaining as a church. This final round of matching support is a crucial step in helping us cross that finish line.

The Ask

We’re inviting you to help us turn $18,150 into $55,000 through TBC’s matching grant. It’s bold, but we believe the Lord is leading us. This amount helps us meet our $200,000 budget—a lean budget for a church our size in the Bay Area—and moves us closer to becoming fully self-sustaining.

Our goal is to raise $18,150 from within City Parish (family members, regular attenders, guests, etc.) + $18,150 from folks outside City Parish (friends, family, churches, organizations, etc.) + $18,150 in matching funds from TBC = $54,450.

It’s probably safe to assume that you fall into one of four categories of folks who’ve found their way to this page:

  • If you’re a family member or are regularly a part of City Parish, this is our chance to do something BIG together. We believe that the Lord calls his people to generosity — in, to, and through his Church — and this grant opportunity is yet but another evidence of his grace in supplying the need to further his mission.

  • If you’ve been a long-time Ministry Partner, you’ve already loved, supported, and given so generously to what the Lord has done and continues to do. Perhaps this is one of the final “hoorahs” to help us towards financial sustainability.

  • If you’re brand new to City Parish, what a remarkable season to be joining us in! Perhaps this could be an inaugurating way for the Lord to use you as you become part of the family.

  • Or perhaps you’re an individual from outside of the area or are a church/organization that either got a call from us or heard about us from a friend. We’re so glad you did. We’d count it a blessing upon blessings if you’d consider helping us meet this goal.

The How
