A King Jesus Gospel

Holy Week is upon us and billions of people the world over are called to remember, reflect, and [hopefully] celebrate the most important event, bar none, in human history — the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As a church, we’re going to spend two Sundays exploring the climax of the inbreaking of God’s Kingdom and the inauguration of Redemption for humanity. We started last week with Palm Sunday, where the triumphal entry quickly turned to sorrow. But this week we celebrate the resurrection where that sorrow turns into the most infinitely significant triumph creation will ever know! Our texts this week were Mark 16:1-8 and 1 Corinthians 15:1-8.

We looked at the significance of our gospel being centered around King Jesus. We explored the idea that we often fail to see that forgiveness flows not just through a person (Jesus) but through a person in his official capacity as King (the Christ) crucified, raised, and reigning! This changes everything. King Jesus’ resurrection is good news because it anticipates the resurrection of all those united to him through his death.

Give the sermon text a read and a listen and we hope to see you this week at a Family Meal and/or a DNA group to dive even deeper.
