Psalm 8
Like 2019, we’re spending the Summer in the Psalms for 2021. This time we’ll be going through them sequentially which will give us a unique perspective into the ‘Poetry’ genre of the Scriptures.
Psalm 8 is a beautiful reflection on the peculiar majesty of God. David reflects on how God has made a habit of using weak and small things to rule over his creation. From infants and babies ordaining praise from adversaries to mankind partnering with God to form and fill his good creation, a meta narrative exists in the Scriptures about weakness, humility, and the way of Jesus. Psalm 8 (and it’s quotations throughout the NT) teaches us that truly living into the Story of God and glorifying him means embracing our weakness and finding our supreme satisfaction in him alone. Give it a listen.
