Mission
It’s been a regular practice of The Parish Church to regularly (somewhat annually) revisit our Core Values to remind us of who God is, what he has done/is doing, who we are in light of that, and what we’re called to do. For Week 3, we worked through the Story of God and explored the idea that God has had a mission since the very beginning of Creation — Even before the Fall/Rebellion. This provided the necessary context for the Great Commission in Matthew 28:16-20. Our BIG IDEA was that, “God intends his image-bearing people to live and thrive as disciples of Jesus in the context of a community (the church), growing in the gospel and on mission together.“ Check it out.
Like thousands of churches worldwide, this global pandemic has forced us to be creative in our response — both in terms of how we gather and how we serve our community. Though we believe the normative pattern established in Scripture for community anticipates embodied presence of the Gathered Church, there are certain times where that’s not as safe. We find ourselves in such a time and are thankful to be able to leverage the digital landscape to remain faithful to plugging into community. This week’s Gathering came by way of smaller House Gatherings (following local, state, and federal guidelines) via Zoom. We’d love for you to join us next week!
