We often live like God keeps score. But from Noah to Moses to Ruth, Scripture shows us that grace finds us before we do anything, and in Jesus the score has already been settled.

We show what we love by what we’re willing to lose. In Hosea 11, God has every right to give up on Israel, yet his heart turns over within him, and that compassion is where ours begins.

Everything on our prayer list answered, but God not with us. Would we notice? In Exodus 33, Moses refuses to go anywhere without God, asks to see his glory, and hears God’s goodness spoken over him. In Jesus, what only Moses had is now ours.

God’s clearest word about who he is was spoken over his people’s worst failure. In Exodus 32, Israel builds a golden calf, Moses pleads from God’s character alone, and we learn that we do not have to get better before we come back to God.
