Scattered Sunday | December 29, 2024
A ‘Scattered Sunday’ does not mean that we’re simply cancelling our normal gathering. It is still filled with intentionality and we hope that it purposefully disrupts the normal rhythms of our church to give us a fresh way to meet with Jesus. As we scatter into homes and meet together, we hope and pray that this liturgy will allow you to reflect on what it looks like to be with Jesus, become like him, and do what he did.
We’ve build this liturgy around the theme of Christmastide—the period in the church calendar between Christmas day and Epiphany (i.e. when the Wise Men appear in Bethlehem). This period usually lasts for 12 Days (yes, queue the ’12 Days of Christmas’) and particularly focuses on the Christ child coming to bring the good news not only to the Jews but also to the Gentiles (i.e. the Wise Men).
